Moment by moment…INVESTING

Isn’t that what ministry is? Life touching another life. Meeting them right where they are. Ministry doesn’t have to be a formal get together. It’s not always at a Bible study. It’s not even just as a leadership position within a church or a secular workplace. It’s not always in a comfortable situation. It’s not always easy. It’s not always a long-term relationship.

It’s just your day to day life! It’s a moment of your time. It’s a portion of your finances. It’s a desire to give your attention. It’s opening your heart. It’s opening your home. It’s your listening ear. It’s your willing shoulder they can cry upon. It’s your questions. It’s your prayers. It’s your tears. It’s your sacrificing time and place to love someone else. It’s digging into their life even when it is so very difficult! It’s putting yourself aside and realizing the needs around you. It’s being transparent.

Ministry happens in a conversation. Ministry happens over the “long haul.” It happens in a church entryway. It happens at a restaurant. It happens in our homes not matter the size or the neighborhood. It happens over coffee or a soda. It happens over text messages. It happens through email. It happens through snail mail (anyone else love writing letters?) It happens through a quick phone call. It happens as you hug that hurting friend.  It even happens from a distance.

Ministry happens. But, it is not by accident.

“A genuine investment in others is intentional, purposeful, and is one of the most loving things you can give to others.” I have been on the receiving end of this kind of investment and will be forever thankful for these eternal impacts. This week Jesus has reminded me much of so many who have chosen to truly minister to me through the years. Some I only knew for moments, but others for many years. Each one holds a treasured place in my heart. I pray others can say the same for me as I’ve tried to invest by the moments He’s given me.

Friends, let your life touch someone else’s life today. It’s so very worth it. Jesus lovingly does this for me and for you and He desires for us to do the same.

May we each seek to truly minister as we pour our lives into others. Invest in what matters this week, friends!
