Kitchen Makeover stage 1

I mentioned months ago that I planned to do a bit of change in the kitchen. Well, full-time ministry is crazy busy and crazy exciting. So, blogging and projects are placed on the back burners often. But, friends, I love this!! I love being feet from our church and love investing, building relationships, and seeing God at big work here in our little country church! I had a few orders for signs a few weeks back and determined to purchase paint, good rollers, and brushes with my profit.
Here are the before pictures…

It was not horrible, but I wasn’t in love with the cabinet color, the partial white trim, partial stained trim, and the green counter tops just didn’t really scream my style.

I went back and forth on options of paint colors, or stain colors, backsplash, countertop stuff and more.  I finally settled on a cabinet color that would work well with my appliances. Several paint “experts” mentioned that antique white would work very well with our bisque colored appliances. I was a bit skeptical on the match, but got dozens of paint swatches to hang in the kitchen for a few weeks.
I finally took the plunge with Behr Antique White and soon fell in love!

I took a few days putting thin coats over all the cabinet doors and drawers scattered on tables throughout our house. Painting cabinets is definitely a tedious task, but the end result is well worth the crazy.

The cabinet hardware was an oil rubbed bronze color, but I liked the look of black. A bit of black spray paint did the trick.
After pictures…😍

The green counter tops don’t pop out as much, and painting all the trim one color has made a HUGE difference. The room looks twice the size and it is so much brighter.

I found a cute white picket fence at a yard sale for $5 and cut a piece and hung behind our island. I typically have to live with something a few days before knowing if I will keep it that way. But, the picket fence has won the hearts of my kiddos, so falling in love with it has been easy!😁

The silverware container got a fresh coat of the antique white as well, and it fits perfectly under the cabinets.

I still plan to do a brick type backsplash, a cute chandelier, and a few other minor changes, but for now, I’m thoroughly in love with a $50 investment. Remember making your home beautiful to you doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Sometimes, it’s just a great deal of time and a “little” sweat. 😉

Happy Monday, friends. Hoping your week is spectacular!
