Laundry Room Ship-lap Wall~ $100 Room Challenge

Here is what the room looked like when we got started. I knew when I chose the laundry room for the $100 room challenge that I wanted to ship lap the wall behind the washer and dryer.

I purchased 2 sheets of 4 x 8 underlayment from Home Depot for $14.98 each. The man at Home Depot was kind enough to cut it into 12 inch boards so I could easily transport it all home. I wanted the boards at 6 inch measurements so my sweet husband used his table saw and sliced all the boards in half before I began measuring and cutting.

The first half of the wall was fairly simple considering it was all the same measurements. I used the nail gun to fasten the underlayment to the wall and used nickels to create a bit of a space in between each of the boards.

Once I got to the top of the washer and dryer I had some tricky cuts to get around the outlets and piping behind. Thankfully, it wasn’t too difficult and I am loving how it turned out.

And then, there is this truth….
I didn’t move much out of the room in order to tackle this project. It was a day by day task, but my laundry room needed to remain fully functional. So, here it is in all it’s transitional glory.😃

Here is the finished wall before the painting… The shelving got a touch of dark walnut stain to help them pop and give it all a different look.

I will be posting another minor project in this room this Friday, so be sure to hop over and check it out. I cannot wait to show you the big reveal next week!
