Laundry furniture change~ $100 Room Challenge

Not every project within a room makeover is that difficult. And, it is even better when those tasks do not cost any money and just need a bit of creativity and time on our part. The cabinet and shelving pieces that we use for school storage really couldn’t be replaced at this time. And, to be completely honest, it really is such a functional piece and fits all the items we need for homeschooling. A little tlc was highly in order to contribute to this room makeover. I knew I needed to repaint the whole piece due to lots of chips and scratches from the move, and I already had a can of black paint in my paint supplies so it was a win win.

Perhaps it is just me, but I get entirely too excited after a new coat of paint is placed on any wall or piece of furniture. It is crazy amazing how such a simple, inexpensive change can make such a HUGE difference.

I replaced the random bins on the top and grabbed these galvanized bins out of the garage. A cute chalkboard label on the front of each one, labeled with what it holds, finished it off perfectly. I love using items that are purposeful, but still fit my decorating style.
Look at that door! I love the pop it created when painting it black. And, just a bit of a secret…I’ve painted several of our interior doors black. Our doors are those cheap ones and they were all pretty nasty. But, replacing them really doesn’t fit in the budget, so I like to make the best of it. I found this cute black old hymnal rack at Goodwill for $3.03. Not really sure why, but it was considered Christmas so it ended up being 50% off too.😉
I hung it on the wall and have the girl’s Bibles stored there for easy access for each of them. I had wanted something to put in the dead space under the wall cabinet, but didn’t want a random sign or decoration. This piece worked out perfectly, and I couldn’t pass up $1.51!
And, here is our schooling organizational side of the room. I am very pleased with the finished project and even more excited that I only spent $1.51!
I cannot wait to show the whole room in our Wednesday reveal!
