Master Bedroom uplift ($100 Room Challenge)
I was a bit nervous and a tiny bit excited when a sweet friend mentioned that I should participate in the $100 room challenge through Lemons Lavender and Laundry What a fun and challenging way to makeover our room and stay under that $100 mark.
Well, deciding on a room to do a makeover on was not the hardest of decisions, but I did have quite a few to choose from. 😊 Several weeks ago I was hired to help a friend decorate her home (post coming on that soon). I had already planned to use some of the money I made to help plan and purchase items needed for my sweet husband’s 40th birthday bash. But, I thought it would be fun to choose at least one minor project for the house after tackling some early Christmas shopping for my babies.
I didn’t have to think or look very long, because I had “paint and do something” to the master bedroom at the top of my list of things to do. 💓
Our bedroom is actually the smallest bedroom in the house, and it didn’t look “bad,” but since moving here I hadn’t painted at all nor had I really spent much time making it the perfect look. May I just say that I love living in this home. I love the coziness and the fact that cleaning takes hardly any time at all. My children keep reminding me of this blessing too. So, back to the room… The walls had a darker tan color on it that in places it had faded due to the sunshine streaming through the big window. I loved the brightness that the sun brought, but I really needed to decide on a paint color and plan of action for the actual makeover of this room. I didn’t want to spend much money at all, and loved all my decorations, so I really wasn’t sure what project would need to take place in order to create a different, clean feel. This challenge helped me make it happen and gave me a purpose to tackle this project NOW!
Here are a few before pictures…
Most, if not all, of the decorations and accents came from yard sales or thrift sales over the years! And, when I redecorate I plan to only shop my house so I don’t spend any more money than I need to.
Here is my list of projects for this room…
- paint the walls
- paint the trim
- paint all the doors (I am still undecided if the doors will be painted black or white, but I will have to experiment first to see what will look best.)
- faux brick the wall that is directly behind the bed
- texture/german schmear wall
- find a few matching decor for above nightstands
- fix head board (sand and repaint)
- Clean out and reorganize closet
- Find a cool curtain rod and rehang curtains
