Jute rug
I have a love/hate relationship when it comes to Facebook marketplace, craigslist, etc. It seems as if every time I find something I love or want, it’s sold, they don’t respond to me, or they never show up to a meet. So, to be completely transparent, I sort of gave up on trying much the last several months. However, after our move and my major purging and yard sale, I decided there were a few specific things that I would need or want for our new home. I have been keeping my eyes open for a jute rug for my home for over a year. But, I never wanted to pay the ridiculous prices people were putting on them. It may be cheaper than the stores, but not for my wallet. So, I put that desire on the back burner of my wants. Every now and then I’d search to see if any options arose, but they never did. The weekend our church voted on us, this random picture popped up on my news-feed of a lady selling a 9×6 jute rug for $75… (it wasn’t the clearest of pictures, but I didn’t mind because it probably deterred other buyers. I like to see potential in things)
We were out of the town, so I sort of lost hope when it popped up as still available after only being up for about 6 minutes.😁 I quickly sent a message to the seller and asked a few questions. She quickly replied with great answers like “only 6 months old, no pets, in a guest room, and from Pier 1.” When I got her answers I debated to ask the next question, because I knew it was probably asking a ton. But, I got up the nerve and sent her a nice note asking if she could hold for 4 days. I know, rude, right? By this moment in the evening I knew the church had unanimously voted yes for us to stay, so I knew home was solidified. But, we were still at a friend’s home and we were headed home only to turn around and head back to South Carolina for a few days of bringing our stuff back to Georgia. So, I knew a meeting wouldn’t work until the end of that week.
It seemed like days til she responded…it was only minutes. But, she had the sweetest response and told me she’d love to hold it for me and would look forward to meeting me that following week! So, yes, I will say I did a bit of a happy dance and gave Jesus a big ‘ole thank you for giving me just a silly want I had. I had sold a big brown rug before moving from SC and had saved my earnings for this exact rug.
I love how He continues to be a personal God to me. Not only for the big faith testings He has, but also in the smallest corners of our desires or plans for life. Cannot wait to share another story of where He turned something not so good into extra blessings.
