To my sweet Mom on a day meant for her!
I don’t always post on Sundays for many reasons, but with it being Mother’s Day I thought it best to brag on my mom, my treasure, and my dear friend!
Do you remember those moments as a teenager when you just wished you could make your own decisions, mistakes, do things your way, or just plain be left alone? I didn’t have many of those moments, by God’s grace alone, BUT I definitely was NOT a perfect teenager and I, like most teens, at times just wanted to do things my way. It never worked out though when I did, and it often resulted in apologies to my parents, the Lord, and even others. There were always consequences for those stupid decisions and there were always thoughts in my head of what would have happened if I had just listened to my mom and dad!
When I recollect my teenage years I have to run to my knees and praise God for godly parents—particularly my mom! Now, like any parents and anyone they are NOT perfect and were not then either, but God had given me some pretty special, wise, and godly leadership to direct me on the path I needed to tread upon!
It has been such a JOY to have my mom as one of my best friends! It is hard to go a few days without touching base with her, and living far away seems to just get more difficult as the years go by! But, I am so blessed to call my friend my mom!
I am so thankful for the lessons I have learned in parenting, house cleaning, hospitality, orderliness, yard saling, prayer, devotions, counseling, and MANY other life changing qualities that my mom has impacted in my life!
I know for certain that my mom is my prayer warrior and ALWAYS has been! This quality of hers seems to just ooze out of her. And, when I am struggling or need someone to listen to me or pray for me, I know just where to turn. This is how she is with anyone—not just her children! I love her!
A few years ago the Lord’s plan was to have my mom diagnosed with breast cancer. It was a huge shock, struggle, and trial in our lives, BUT my mom’s attitude was something that changed me forever! She used her cancer to witness, share joy even through suffering, and reach out to many others! What an overwhelming example my mom is to me and so many others who come across her path!![]()
So, on Mother’s Day and throughout each day, Mom, I just wanted to say THANK YOU! I love you dearly and hold tight to the sweet friendship we have! I pray I can be the kind of mom to my little ones as you have been to me! I wish we lived closer and could go out for a coffee and shop at our favorite stores! But, for now, those memories are treasures close to my heart and I love you for them!
