Christmas Memories
For years our children have asked about being part of a parade again. When they were little we were regularly involved in our community’s parade and outreach. it was a memory I think their little hearts constantly grasped hold of and wouldn’t let go. So, when we got settled here and found out our church was going to take part in the Christmas parade, my sweet little one’s eyes seemed to light up. And, to be a bit more honest, my eyes lit up too. They enjoyed helping fill 1000 goody bags for our church family to hand out throughout the parade route.
Float preparation was another exciting time and every little opportunity to help was yet another memory stored away in their minds.
We then set our creative juices spinning as we made “no sew” costumes for 2 angels, 1 donkey, 2 sheep, and a shepherd. Lots of giggles, glue gun burns, crazy singing, and lots of modeling banked another happy memory away.
Parade day came and it was filled to the brim with more memories that I hope our children will carry with them forever. They invested in lives that they may never know. They put a Gospel tract in hundreds of hands. They were little lights as they sat upon that float bringing glory to Jesus this Christmas season. This mommy is thankful….and so very blessed.
