Creativity is Fun

I absolutely love to cook and bake and find it a fun challenge to pick out a few ingredients and just come up with something to make with my little ones! This weekend was one of those times when I just needed to unwind and do something fun with my little ones and their busy, helpful hands! So, Chloe picked out graham crackers and I grabbed some chocolate and the jar of peanut butter! Andrew gave the great idea of adding the jar of colorful sprinkles! So, what did we make? Well, not sure what to call it, but it is a keeper and we all (including Daddy) loved them!

We started by breaking the crackers in half and placing them on a cookie sheet. Chloe helped me chop up their 2 lb. chocolate bunny they each received at Easter and we melted it in a double boiler with a few tablespoons of butter. Once the chocolate melted we dipped the crackers in and covered each one. Then, mommy had some fun trying to squeeze it into the freezer to harden it up!

Once it was hardened, Andrew helped me scoop 1 1/2 -2 tablespoons of peanut butter on top of each chocolate cracker! It looked heavenly after that, but we threw it back in the freezer for about 10 minutes until the peanut butter was a bit hardened.  We then covered each one with chocolate making the cracker and peanut butter completely covered.

This is where the kids had fun! They each chose their sprinkles and poured them over top of the cracker sandwiches to their hearts content (well, mommy kept an eye on that). Back into the freezer they went until we were all cleaned up. We then settled down at the table with a tall glass of cold milk and enjoyed a very messy but amazing treat! I love my little ones and all the fun we have together!

They love to enjoy their creations too!

Crazy Maddie was a bit not sure of getting all gooey!
Almost gone, but super yummy according to Chloe!
What new things have you done with your kiddos today? Pull up the chairs to the counter and let them help you. Sure takes a bit longer and creates more mess, but it is priceless to see the looks on their faces when Daddy and others say how much they enjoyed what they had a HUGE helping hand in creating!
