Pile of Leaves
We have been getting our yard cleared out for many reasons! We put the pool away this last weekend and are planning on doing some extensive back yard renovation this next summer, Lord willing! But, it is Fall and we are under tons and tons of trees, so leaves are a HUGE job these next few months! I used to love to rake leaves, but I think my tired 30-year old body is tired of raking so often. My hero of a hubby bought a leaf blower last fall and we LOVE it! It truly makes this task easier to keep up with. Definitely still have to use the rake for the large piles, but it still is helpful.
When I was out working on this task the other day, God changed the way I looked at those piles of leaves. I know maybe it’s because I have little children, but lately He seems to be helping me look at things with a different, silly perspective. I looked at this tree and the pile that it dropped and saw God’s blessings on me. Seems silly, right? Well, it hits home to me in so many ways and as I worked I began to mention silently and sometimes out loud some of the many blessings God has rained upon me this year!
Here is just some of the list I came up with:
- A Godly husband who is honoring the Lord in all he does
- 4 beautiful children
- A son who just made a public decision to get baptized
- A 4 year old who is admitting she needs to be saved (just waiting patiently and praying diligently)
- Healthy family
- Beautiful home that meets our needs
- Our sweet teens
- Our adopted college kids
- Opportunities to use our home to serve Jesus
- 2 running vehicles
- trees in our yard (despite the task of leaf cleanup)
- This blog that I enjoy having an avenue to give family and friends a little taste of what we are up to AND an opportunity to encourage others with God’s grace and His provision
- A job for Brian
- My cleaning job
- A great school for our children with the best teacher ever!
- A godly heritage
- Food in our freezer
- A playhouse for our children
- A fun slide to watch them slide down
- Working hands to rake our leaves
These are just a few and the list can go on forever it seems. Isn’t God good? I believe so and am excited to share with my readers of His goodness. What things are you thanking Him for today? Has He given you blessings that you are remembering to thank Him for?
