Laundry Room ~ ($100 Room Challenge)
We tend to run into the New year with a book full of resolutions, lists, desires, schedules and more. Most of the changes can be refreshing as we downsize, organize, purge, lose weight and more. My list of resolutions continues to increase, but I am excited to be participating in another $100 Room Challenge through Lemons Lavender & Laundry. Over the years I have tremendously enjoyed making the spaces around our home better. They aren’t pinterest worthy or anything spectacular, but they have become more organized and more “me”. I love the challenge of being creative, shopping my home, and spending as little money as possible. For the month of January I will post each Wednesday with an update on the projects I have completed. I have a maximum budget of $100 to transform my space into what I vision it to be. (I’m hoping to come way under that budget though)😉
I changed a few things in our master bedroom when I participated in this challenge back in September. You can look at pictures of my reveal here.
This is just a fun way for me to actually tackle a particular room in our home that needs a bit of attention. Actually, several of the rooms in our home warrant some extra tender loving care, but I had to narrow it down to one this go around. With our fall schedule and crazy holidays, I opted for a smaller room that doesn’t need a ton of work right now, but could use a minor uplift.
Our laundry room is a very important room in our home. It serves multiple purposes that need a bit of loving. First it serves as a laundry room of which it is used multiple times a day in order to keep attire clean for a family of seven. Secondly, it is our school supply room complete with tvs, grading essentials, and all school books. Lastly, it is a bit of a storage area for our mini chest freezer, instruments, swimming essentials, cleaning supplies, ironing board, and more. It tends to become a dump all, but I am hoping that making it a bit more practical will help.
This is what I am hoping to accomplish throughout this next month as I change this space to be more “me”…
- Paint the entire space (not certain on the color yet)
- Ship lap the wall behind the washer and dryer
- New lighting
- New rug
- Paint the school supply cupboard and other storage boxes that need updated
- Replace some baskets
- Make new curtains
- Build some kind of sign and shelving for above the chest freezer
- Paint the door black
- Purchase better hooks or storage space for cleaning supplies behind door
- Add a few pops of new decor or something to freshen/brighten the space
